A Doctor of Family and Community
Dr. Bobby Chan was born in Hong Kong and, from the age of three, he spent his formative years growing up in a small town near Birmingham, England. At the age of seventeen, he traveled to San Jose, California to attend university. He graduated from San Jose State University with a B.S. in Molecular Biology and a minor in Chemistry.
Dr. Chan met his wife, Kristi, during optometry school in Houston , and they recently celebrated their 10 year wedding anniversary. They have two wonderful children (aged 8 and 4) who constantly keep them busy and on their toes. The Chan's have lived in Frisco for the past three years and are blessed to raise their family in such a wonderful community.

Dr. Bobby Chan attended and graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in May of 1996. His optometric education included externship rotations at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio , and the Mann-Berkeley Eye Center in Houston.
He practiced one year in Houston before relocating to Dallas where he accepted a position at the renowned University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Chan joined the Department of Ophthalmology in June of 1997 and has remained a successful member of the faculty for the past 11 years.
Dr. Chan has benefited from working in conjunction with all aspects of ophthalmology sub-specialties. His area of expertise has been with contact lens fitting, whether it is from normal vision correction to the most complex and medically necessary fitting (such as for injured corneas or for misshapen corneas like keratoconus). Dr. Chan's many years at UT Southwestern has offered him precious experience in detection, diagnosis, and offering treatment options for countless eye disorders from the very front surface to the very back surface of the eye.
As he states, “vision care and healthy eyes are all about prevention and early detection of any problems that may arise. Just like any part of your body, routine checks are essential and this will hopefully ensure a lifetime of good vision.”
